🔍 About the Role – Pre-Assessment Nurse Responsibilities

As a Pre-Assessment Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for their surgical journey. You’ll work closely with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure every patient is thoroughly assessed, informed, and ready for their procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred assessments in a consultant-led, matron-managed environment

  • Act as the first clinical point of contact for surgical patients during the pre-operative process

  • Support patients and families with expert knowledge, reassurance, and care

  • Demonstrate a strong clinical skillset and a broad nursing knowledge base

  • Work collaboratively with theatre teams, ward staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care

  • Stay up to date with the latest healthcare practices, techniques, and technologies

✅ What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Active NMC registration (Nursing and Midwifery Council)

  • Post-registration experience in an acute or hospital setting

  • Strong communication, clinical decision-making, and assessment skills

  • A team-focused approach with a passion for delivering exceptional care

  • Previous experience in pre-assessment nursing is desirable but not essential
