Are you detail-oriented, dependable, and take pride in a job well done? Northern Trains is looking for Train Cleaners (Days) to help ensure our trains are clean, safe, and ready for passengers across Manchester and the North of England.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness on trains, including seating areas, toilets, windows, and touchpoints.

  • Top up supplies such as soap and toilet paper.

  • Empty bins, remove litter, and ensure trains are hygienic and welcoming.

  • Quickly resolve critical cleaning issues, such as spills or biohazards, to prevent service disruptions.

  • Work collaboratively with your team and other staff across Northern.

  • Physically active: This is an active role — expect to walk up to 10,000 steps daily.

  • Willing to learn: Full training provided — no prior cleaning experience needed!


📋 Essential Requirements:

To apply for this role, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over.

  • Live within 45 minutes of the Manchester depot.

  • Pass a safety-critical medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening.

  • Have normal colour vision (no colour blindness).
